More e-journal access for Local NHS Staff
E-journal access for Cambridge University Health Partners*
Pilot scheme launched!
The scheme allows the University of Cambridge to extend to its partner NHS organisations in CUHP access to the content it already obtains on subscription from the participating publishers. A pilot scheme has been launched, ending December 2011, and will be reviewed to decide what happens after 2011.
The resources available for Cambridge University Health Partners include all the Nature Publishing Group journals, a package of 2,000 titles from Springer, and (soon) Elsevier's "Science Direct" package of 2,500 journals and a set of databases from Thomson Reuters including Web of Science and Journal Citation Reports. Some of this content is already available to NHS staff via other subscriptions.
The increased access is part of a national agreement* between the libraries of the five Academic Health Science Centre* universities, JISC Collections, the UK academic community e-procurement and negotiation service, and some of the leading publishers of e-content. The Centres found that uneven access to content was a barrier to high-quality collaborative research, clinical care and education for NHS and academic staff at AHSCs.
